Subject: Re: LaTeX version of B-T
Keith,
The runes will be transcribed into entities as any other non-ASCII characters. It's not a 100% HTML compatible solutions, but many of our current entities are not in the HTML standard. The HTML compatibility was never the goal anyway. The entities can be later represented either by images (online) or translated Unicode (offline, either at run-time, or before), though I don't know of any font that would contain all the ligatures we use (though Cardo covers nearly everything and is quite nice).
As it looks now, I will be responsible for the desktop solution, while Sean is the one who runs the online search&read engine.
The error-correcting system - what are you exactly thinking of? When I was preparing the data for the desktop application, I also carried out some corrections or "normalizations" but I hope we can arrive at a data file that would require no ad hoc corrections neither run-time nor in the developmental phase.
Obviously, if you have some automatized corrections that can be run on the file, let us know and we could use them. There was a number of such corrections applied by Sean before the manual corrections, but there might be others that could still improve the quality of the data.
Thanks for your help & enthusiasm,
Ondrej
> Ondrej: thanks for the encouragement - I'm continuing to develop the LaTeX version, and e.g. have now done a translation of the html tables to LaTeX; also the runes. On the runes - could I ask: what is the intended html solution? If you need to fall back on inline images, I could supply these via LaTeX.

At the moment I have a python script which makes many ad-hoc corrections, which I can't make permanently because oe-bosworthtoller.txt might change. What about a wiki so that I could make the corrections in the master source? Or if I provided a diff file would you be able to patch the source?
