Subject: Bosworth/Toller, page b0783, entry 24
This is a margin comment on: Bosworth/Toller, page b0783, entry 24
The acute accent on the æ of
týwþ here is probably in error; the main entry for this verb (page b0024, entry 42) omits the accent, and the other two places where the same passage is cited (page d0240, entry 9; page d0763, entry 34) spell the word "ætýwð".
Not that it's material, but I note also that this entry gives the word a final þ, where ð occurs in the other entries. I have been assuming that B/T followed the sources in its choices between ð and þ, but all three of these entries cite the same source. Whence then the variant spelling? Does it reflect different practices by Bosworth (in the main dictionary) and Toller (in the Supplement)?
