Yup. Go up and click on "About", and then on "Character encoding standards", and scroll down. That list is probably missing a few of the newest characters. There's an internal list which really is the up-to-date list; I should make a link to it, or I could mail it to you.

I was thinking more in terms of XML, where you can define whatever entities you like. That decision forces us into the form &entity;, which happens to be shared by HTML, since both derive historically from SGML. I thought it made sense to adopt whatever standard entities already exists rather than invent new ones.

It's not so much a matter of being safe as it is of logistics. Ondrej has a team of people filling in the Greek, Hebrew, and Rune letters, and at any given time, there are some pages checked out (even tho this is no longer visible on the web page). So if we substituted in your corrected version, there would be some pages where your global corrections would be lost.
We've been discussing how to address this problem. We know that there is a fairly extensive list of checks and corrections which need to be made globally. We're not sure exactly how to handle the global changes when there are always some pages which are checked out.
It would be good if we compiled a list of all the global corrections which need to be made so that we can get them in one pass, if at all possible. (But, of course, it will probably end up being more than one pass, no matter how hard we try to get everything the first time.)

Yes, thank you!!! A few days ago, I just compiled a list of all the corrections which have been posted on the board since the beginning. I don't yet have an exact plan for entering them all, but putting together this list was the first step.
