Sonnenuntergang, vgl. engl. go to glade; nd. gladern glitschen. - Eine nasalierte Form in nd. glander Eisscholle, glandern glitschen; und in ags. glendran verschlingen (eigtl. gleiten lassen). Ig. Wz. ghladh, urspr. dieselbe wie im nachfolgenden. Vgl. asl. gladiti glätten, lit. glostiti sanft streicheln, preuß. glosto Schleifstein. - Vgl. glent, glep.
