This is a margin comment on: Cleasby/Vigfusson, page b0459, entry 1
"g/Gnúpr" variant: núpar. Entered into the excellent online Icelandic map search function at:
atlas.lmi.is/kortasja_en/
- which shows numerous places using that variant. Also, use the "Maps/Atlas Maps" functions to overlay older hand-drawn survey map onto GPS-based modern map for somewhat older place names. This map is an excellent locator resource. I use it to identify/verify many places mentioned in my translations of older texts:
